An MP earns KSh 739,600 a month in salary alone — and over KSh 1.5 million once the allowances, transport benefits, subsidised loans and medical cover are counted. Across 416 Members, that is billions a year. This is a citizens' petition to keep the salary, cut the extras, and free up an estimated KSh 5.2 billion for schools, hospitals and jobs.

Keep the salary. Cut the extras.
We are not against Parliament, and we are not asking for MPs to be poorly paid. Keep the basic salary, the house allowance and the market adjustment factor. Reduce medical cover to standard limits. Abolish the mileage claim, car maintenance, vehicle reimbursement, mortgage benefit, sitting allowances, special parliamentary duty allowance and airtime — and publish the whole package in plain language.
People over privilege
Public office is service, not a pathway to extraordinary personal benefit.
Accountability in leadership
Every shilling paid from the public purse should be explained and justified.

What does an MP receive?
It's more than a monthly salary. Step through the package — salary, sitting allowances, five separate transport benefits, subsidised credit and medical cover are all different things, and each is paid for by the public.
